Who is Rick Bryan?
I was born in northern New Jersey in 1956. Grew up just 15 miles west of
the Empire State building. We had a beautiful home with an astounding view
of NYC
because we were on the first mountain from there.
My Mom was a
homemaker and my Dad,
a farmer and entrepreneur, owned and operated one of New Jersey's largest
original garden centers.
I kept my teachers on their toes in both public and private
schools until I graduated public high
school in 1974. I was voted by many classmates and several teachers as 'Most
likely to Succeed'.
Already having several businesses and growing business experience under
my belt by the time I graduated high school, I decided to pursue
administering to my businesses, continuing my studies, and formulate my
own organizations at my own speed rather than under the
adverse pressure of a
college schedule and environment.
From then through to present time I kept myself busy with studying,
administering to my businesses, helping others, my family, and looking forward to
my future projects.
When I originally decided to remain flexible by working for
myself I had no idea how strongly this decision would influence my future
studies and quest for more skills.
As I studied more subjects like electronics, physics,
engineering, construction, business, marketing and administration, I was interested to
find that helping others was becoming easier and easier.
Most people had very similar problems and I was able to help
them. Because of my multifaceted education, I could draw the various fields
of technology together for effective solutions.
My favorite subjects these days are:

Gave Dad a Break:
If being in business for myself at age twelve wasn't enough
of an independent trait, it was further proven after I graduated High
School... you see, my Dad had made it a habit to give a gift of a new car to
both my brother and my sister after graduation... he paid for their college
and University educations too.
After I graduated high school he approached me to find out
what kind of car I wanted. I told him that I was going to build my own
car... that I wanted to do it myself and that I would pay for it. I went on
to tell him that I finished high school as he insisted.... but I would not
be attending a College or University... that I would get my own education at
my speed and at MY expense.
He was quite surprised to say the least... he put up a
little fight about it, but he finally conceded. He knew in his heart that I
was more than capable of doing what I said and likely to DO IT too!
It wasn't until many years later that I realized he was very
relieved too. After all, he was getting a little older and wanted to take it
easy. He really didn't feel like working harder and longer so that he could
shell out another $100,000 for my education and car.
I didn't do it to give him a break, that is just the way it
worked out. And I am glad it did work out that way, I would have regretted
being such a burden on him, even though other kids my age would have
'expected it'...
Helping Others:
Yeah, I recognized right away that the psychology classes they offered in
school were just a waste of time. But that didn't stop me from discovering
and studying methods that did work. I knew there must be effective
technology for the human mind and spirit, but where?
My intention in studying psychology was to help myself and others, but
that isn't what was being taught.... not in the public schools I attended
anyway... nor in the texts and manuals I found in the libraries. But, bits
and pieces were of value... I tested and digested only what worked.
During my personal 25 year research project I helped dozens of people
with severe losses, nagging physical injuries, and deep traumatic
experiences

My Business thinking at age 12:
I wanted to help others, but at age 12 I wasn't sure how I could
accomplish that. I wanted to do something meaningful, important and
lasting... but what?
I was already running my own automobile detailing business, and that was
helping others in some form, but I wanted to do something more substantial.
I loved animals, so everyone was suggesting becoming a veterinarian, but
I didn't want to tie myself down to a single field or practice.... it was
suggested to study psychology or become a physician, so these were things I
would find myself looking into for a few years.

Keeping my options open:
One factor was clear, I recall being certain that to be of help to others
I would have to head my own company otherwise I would have to do what some
other 'boss' told me to do. Being my own boss gave me the decision
making ability and I could turn whole organization on the 'head of a pin' if
need be should I find that necessary.
With the boundaries set in stone that I would help others and I would
remain autonomous by having my own organization, my mind settled down a
little in that the decision was made.

How I guaranteed success:
After starting and being involved with a wide array of businesses by my
later teenage years, I saw the similar factors among the successful
businesses and made of thorough study of those factors.
I also made notes of what frequently brought businesses to the ground and
made them fail.
I coupled the factors that healthy businesses have and integrated other
fields that I am experienced with such as Internet and networking
interconnectivity to take a strong business and make it more productive,
profitable, fun and efficient in every case.
All businesses and owners that I have worked directly with have always
improved one way or another. The organizations always do better when I am on
board.
Having started many businesses, taught and helped others to start their
own businesses, saved failing businesses, helped owners increase their
overall flow from a trickle to a flood... and keep the flow at that level, I
can repeat these steps and help others.
Ivory Tower Policy:
I have seen many businesses and projects fail and fortunes in funds
literally get thrown away.
When an alleged 'expert' doesn't know a damn about what they are talking,
the results are ALWAYS disastrous if their advice is followed. For that
reason, I adopted a ZERO Ivory Tower Policy.
An 'Ivory Tower' may be defined as:
"A place, mental state, viewpoint, or
attitude of retreat and detachment, particularly preoccupation with
lofty, remote, or pseudo intellectual considerations rather than
practical everyday life."
The people you have had the most trouble with in life, in
many cases, were those who reside in an "Ivory Tower" as described above.
They claim to 'know', they think they 'know'.... but they do NOT. They
simply get in the way of those who DO know something and are busy
accomplishing things.
The real problem begins when someone isn't wary of this type
or doesn't know about them. They easily fool you into thinking they know
what they are talking about... after all... they believe it themselves! And
when your project, company, or promotion fails, it is NEVER anything they
did....
These types generally are a weight upon the shoulders of
those who are productive as they are not productive themselves, but
instead tend to clog up the gears of production with their feigned knowledge
that rarely works as they have little actual experience in the real world.

Problem-makers versus Problem-solvers:
Very often you can trace down the times in your life that you were very
successful... and then you can look at time where you may have experienced
relatively bad times.... and it is my personal bet to you is that those
times, both good and bad, can be related to others who have a direct
influence in your life and may even depend upon.
People who tend to make problems (problem makers) will
burden you and your life with problems... whereas problem solving types
(problem solvers) of individuals will contribute to your overall success as
they take weight off your shoulders.
Problem makers may cause problems in YOUR LIFE in various
ways... maybe they are never on time, perhaps they have a drug or drinking
problem and cannot be relied upon, or maybe they are involved in a bad
relationship and cannot be productive as they are consumed by it... or it
could be they are really messed up in some other ways.... nevertheless, they
can take you and your projects down....
While yes, you were directly responsible for your having
been successful or otherwise, I have always found that the individuals one
surrounds themselves with have a great impact on one's responsibilities and
projects.

Character Traits:
Character and Integrity are not fleeting or temporary
qualities in a person, they are ingrained in one's personality. The lines
between Integrity, Character and Duty are thin ones... as they overlap and
depend one upon the other.
Because I am an engineer at heart, I am geared towards
solving problems.... that is what engineers do... by nature, they solve
problems.
The unchanging traits in my personality have been helping
others, building and repairing things, and studying so that I may be more
effective at helping others and building things.

A better way:
There is always a better way to accomplish any given task.
To the general public, these refined and evolved methods remain on the
horizon waiting for society to 'catch up' and employ these methods in a
widespread fashion, if they catch on at all...
Vested interests, lack of promotion, the status quo and
other factors sometimes make improved technology fade away or disappear
altogether before they 'see the light of day' or become popular.
Until these new and better ways eventually become widely
known, practiced and are considered to be the norm, they remain, The Next
Standards... soon to be one of the many new websites of mine!
It's all in the name:
The Next Standards domain name that I have recently registered suggests and entails a certain measure of
effectiveness, quality and level of refinement.
Going beyond current standards of
effectiveness, refinement and quality is a brief and accurate description.
The tools and technologies that my associates and I utilize work far better
and faster than what is offered to
the general public or what the general public is even 'generally aware of'!
Our methodologies and tools are far more effective than
what the most astute public generally accepts as "top-quality".
As outlined in my mission statement,
we should concern ourselves with what works and what works better than what is
available, whether it is 'popular', 'mainstream' or otherwise.
Effective new
technologies frequently begin as 'little-known' and/or are bypassed in favor of
the 'status quo'. My associates and me are locating many of these new technologies and accelerating
their integration into society.
This concept is adhered to within my organizations and subsidiary
organizations. My services, solutions and team projects also reflect this
same commitment to a standard consistently and considerably BEYOND what is 'the best
available' currently.
